This Day In Hockey History (9/22)

Today we decided to levy some perspective on “This Day”.  This is not much of a moment really but when you consider it in context of today, maybe it is.  If you wondered what some players made back in the days of old.  Here is your answer and needless to say it really is not all that pretty.  Again, even in 2011 dollars, it is not as much as one would think.  Here is today’s moment from 77 years ago.  That is not a misprint.  First, a video and then the moment as always.  More to come later….

 

 

September 22, 1934


A meeting of the NHL board of governors was held, where it was approved that collective salary limits for all clubs for the 1935 season would not exceed $62,500 with an individual salary limit of $7,000 to any one player.

Good old Hextall…old school.

September 22, 1994


Philadelphia Flyers re-obtained veteran goaltender Ron Hextall in trade from the New York Islanders, in exchange for goalie Tommy Soderstrom. The Islanders also received a sixth round draft choice in 1995.
