Sometimes retirements are hard to swallow and especially when your best goalie in decades has to hang it up prematurely due to you guessed it, a concussion. What makes it worse is that it was not a punch or a hard hit, or a puck to the head. It was actually a skate to the head of all things. What is the probability of that happening? Goaltender Mike Richter announced his retirement, after 14 NHl seasons with the New York Rangers. He backstopped the Rangers to a Stanley Cup in 1994 and finished with 301 wins, all as a New York Ranger.
