This Day In Hockey History (9/4)

Sometimes retirements are hard to swallow and especially when your best goalie in decades has to hang it up prematurely due to you guessed it, a concussion.  What makes it worse is that it was not a punch or a hard hit, or a puck to the head.  It was actually a skate to the head of all things.  What is the probability of that happening?  Anyway, here is a video and then today’s moment from eight years ago.

Goaltender Mike Richter announced his retirement, after 14 NHl seasons with the New York Rangers.  He backstopped the Rangers to a Stanley Cup in 1994 and finished with 301 wins, all as a New York Ranger.

Another one of those names from the past that screamed Italian Soup!  Seriously Happy 45th to this guy and hopefully its all going well for him.

Former NHL left winger Sergio Momesso born in Montreal, Que. Momesso played in the NHL 1983-84 through 1996-97 with the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis, Vancouver, the New York Rangers and Toronto.
