This Day In Playoff Hockey History (5/27)

Here is today’s moment on This Day In Hockey History…this one is going to ruffle some feathers. Everyone knows what happended 18 years ago today in 1994. We have heard it ad nauseum at least two million times, it seems. When people think back to where they were, it definitely is one of those iconic moments for an iconic franchise. Without further adieu, here is today’s moment with a video that surely remains a favorite moment of all time for New York Ranger fans.

May 27, 1994


Stephane Matteau scored the winning goal at 24:24 of overtime to lead the Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Devils, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals in New York. Rangers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals vs Vancouver.
