This Day In Hockey History (3/7)

It is Hump Day on This Day In Hockey History.  There is not much more that needs to be said but we will try to anyway.  Today we pull out a double milestone of sorts on “This Day”.  Usually these are reserved for special occasions but someone goofed up and figure now was as good a time as any.  Why is this moment special?  Honestly, it happened 16 years ago today and is about one of the best defensemen ever to play the game.  Here is the video and then the moment.  Now duck!

 

 

March 07, 1996


St. Louis defenseman Al MacInnis played in his 900th career NHL game, and scored his 900th career NHL point, with a goal in a 4-2 Blues’ loss to the visiting Calgary Flames.

This Day In Hockey History (3/7)

Numbers can be massaged in many ways normally but today we have a moment that just makes you say WOW!  This moment comes to us from 30 years ago and literally is something likely not to be seen again in the National Hockey League.  First the video as always and then the moment.

 

 

March 07, 1981


Edmonton’s Wayne Gretzky became the first player in NHL history to get six career hat tricks before age 21, when he scored four times in a 5-3 win over the Flyers, in Philadelphia. The four scores gave Gretzky 100 goals in his first 145 NHL games.
