This Day In Hockey History (3/4)

We needed a quick moment here on a Sunday.  As always, our inbox filled up just at the right time.  Also, Fantasy Hockey ONE is being done live on the air tonight like it is usually done.

Here is our gem of the day by the way and the strange part is this one was really good in delivery.  We have to be honest this was one hell of a streak.  People forget that there were so many of these in the 1970’s and early 1980’s.

John Bucyk scored his 6th career hat trick and Gerry Cheevers recorded his 14th career shutout as the Bruins extended their team-record home undefeated streak to 24 straight games (23-0-1) with a 7-0 win over the Oakland Seals.

This Day In Hockey History (3/4)

This one is for one of my all time favorites in Terry Sawchuk.  This moment happened 44 years ago and raise a glass on TGIP for one of the game’s most brilliant netminders.  Here you go good sir.

Terry Sawchuk became the first NHL goaltender to record 100 career shutouts, when Toronto beat Chicago 3-0 at Maple Leaf Gardens.

BallHype: hype it up!

Its another day on This Day and well we have a moment that features a “last” of sorts. This one occurred 21 years ago today and time to see just what it was.

802….now the moment.

Wayne Gretzky scored twice to hit the 50 goal mark for the 9th (and final) time and added 4 assists (in the 2nd period) in a 6-2 Kings win over the visiting Flyers. Gretzky became just the second player to get 50 goals 9 times in his career.
