This Day In Hockey History (2/20)

It is a lighter than usual Monday as it is Presidents Day.  However, we have a “This Day In Hockey History” anyway.  There are always those moments that you look back on and go wow.  Today is one of those days.  Now do not fret.  We have a video today that Plante may be more known for and then of course the gem for today.  Enjoy and remember the Presidents today!

 

 

February 20, 1971


Toronto goaltender Jacques Plante recorded his 400th NHL career victory to become the third NHL goaltender to do so when the Maple Leafs won 3-1 over the visiting St. Louis Blues. Dave Keon led the scoring with two goals.

This Day In Hockey History (2/20)

Today’s moment is kind of one that is forgotten because of the Edmonton Oilers.  However, 40 years ago, Bobby Orr set a record for newer NHL teams.  Well here it is….

 

 

February 20, 1971


Bobby Orr picked up an assist for his 100th point of the season in a 5-4 Bruins’ loss in Los Angeles. Orr became just the second player in NHL history to have two 100 point seasons — Phil Esposito became the first to do so two weeks earlier.
