This Day In Hockey History (2/15)

Today on This Day we look at the linesmen?  What were we thinking?  Okay at any rate, let’s get down to business.  Sometimes we do offer the really zany moments here but today since most of the good ones were taken, we went in a completely different direction.  The video for this gem is what kind of steals the headlines a bit but at any rate, this milestone happened 20 years ago today and as always the video comes first.  Enjoy.

This Day In Hockey History (2/15)

There are so many good American born NHL scorers now that we forget one of the original gold standards as far as a player who had one really magical season.  The year was 1985 and his name was Bobby Carpenter.  Here is his moment on “THIS DAY”.

February 15, 1985

Washington’s Bobby Carpenter scored his 42nd goal of the season, a new NHL record for most goals in a season by a U.S. born player. The old record of 41 was held by Joey Mullen. Carpenter’s goal came in a 5-3 Caps’ loss to the Jets, at Winnipeg.
