Pick The Winner (3/28)

Sadly no Fantasy Hockey ONE today but we do have some good news, we have Pick The Winner in its place.

Detroit Red Wings @ Columbus Blue Jackets – RED WINGS OVER 3.5 GOALS (+115)
(Note: I’m risking 1 unit to win 1.15 units)

**Note: Again this is a play on Detroit to score more than 3.5 goals. If they score 4 or more goals we win this bet. I know that some betting sites (such as Bet365) doesn’t offer this, but I highly recommend you sign up at www.5Dimes.com (one of the best all around betting sites). **

I know I will get asked if I like the over 5.5, and although I was leaning towards it I like the Wings to score 4+ better at +115.

Detroit has gotten out of a recent slump with 5-4 and 7-2 wins at home. The latest 7-2 victory came against the Blue Jackets on Monday night. Tonight’s starting goalie for Columbus, Allen York, came in for relief and let in 1 goal on 11 shots after Mason had let in 6 goals on 22 shots against. York has appeared in 7 games this season (with 1 start) and holds a 0-1-0 record with a 3.04 GAA and .886 SV%. York has been mostly in the ECHL this season where he has a 4-4-2 record with a high 3.28 GAA and .892 SV%. He has also spent a little time with the Springfield Falcons in the AHL where his GAA was 3.94 and his SV% at .871. Although York is young and still developing, those aren’t good numbers and he will face a tough task tonight with the Red Wings in town.

Detroit averaged near 45 shots per game over their recent two games, and I would expect them to get a lot of shots on York tonight with the Blue Jackets giving up 39, 38, and 40 shots against in their last 3. These two teams have met 5 times this season with the Red Wings winning 4 of the 5 meetings. Detroit has scored 4+ goals in 3 of the 5, including a 5-2 win in Columbus in their latest visit. Take note that the OVER is 8-1 in the Red Wings last 9 vs a team with a losing record. As they look to start a nice run heading into the postseason I like the Red Wings to come out hard tonight and give the Blue Jackets a lot of trouble. Take the RED WINGS OVER 3.5 GOALS.
