This Day In Hockey History (9/27)

This moment today looks at the New York Islanders and what they did 39 years ago.  People please note the video is a tongue and cheek approach and homage to pop culture as far as endorsements with hockey players back in an era gone by.  Again, the video comes followed by the latest gem from yesteryear.

 

 

September 27, 1972


The first NHL game was played at Nassau Coliseum, in New York. 11,053 watched as the Rangers beat the Islanders 6-4, in an exhibition game.

This moment from 38 years ago is a real downer for some because the problem is this team is still playing there.  However, all teams start somewhere and here was Long Island’s start.
