This Day In Hockey History (9/16)

Everyone has a beginning and for Wayne Gretzky, he had his first training camp too.  What we did for a TGIF edition was to go back 33 years and remember this moment that turns out to be a pretty iconic one in the grand scheme of things.  Now of course it is time for the video and moment as always.  Yes we know, this guy’s career turned out pretty good. 

 

 

September 16, 1978

17-year-old Wayne Gretzky attended his first pro training camp, as a member of the WHA’s Indianapolis Racers.

So who knew this little pipsqueak was going to make history?  This moment happened 32 years ago today.  That makes this player almost 50.  Who knew!
