This Day In Hockey History (9/13)

Today we take a look back at another one of those magical moments in hockey history.  The Canada-Soviet Union rivalry was well documented.  The Canada Cup was in the balance, it was 5-5 in Overtime and looked like the Russians might pull this out in the third and final game when all of a sudden, the following happened 24 years ago today.  Here is the video and then the moment.

 

 

September 13, 1987


Mario Lemieux scored with less than 90 seconds left in the third period to give Team Canada a 6-5 win over the Soviet Union, and the title in the best of three Canada Cup finals.

This Day In Hockey History (9/13)

Who says the Isles and Devils do not trade players.  Oh wait, they were not the Devils then…..nevermind.  This moment happened 36 years ago today.  Enjoy.

 

 

September 13, 1974


New York Islanders acquired NHL rights to Bob Bourne from Kansas City Scouts in exchange for NHL rights to Larry Hornung. Bart Crashley was later sent to the Scouts to complete the deal.
