This Day In Hockey History (9/12)

Simply one of the players that truly changed the game was inducted into the Hockey Hall Of Fame 32 years ago today.  He will be remembered as the best defenseman of all times.  One has to wonder just how many records he could have set if only his knees were not so banged up.  At any rate, here is a video and then the moment as always.

 

 

September 12, 1979


Hockey Hall of Fame inducted it’s newest members: Bobby Orr, Harry Howell, Henri Richard and builder Gordon Juckes.  This class is always remembered for Orr even though Richard won all those Stanley Cups, and many forget what Harry Howell did as well as how Gordon Juckes built the game.

This was a sad day for every New York American fan 69 years ago.  Sorry Ranger fans but your owner, even then, was a crooked shady character.

 

 

September 12, 1941


The New York Americans changed their “home city” designation from “New York” to “Brooklyn”.
