This Day In Hockey History (8/31)

Here was a bit of an unexpected trade that happened 16 years ago today.  Neither team really made out to a point with this though the Rangers later 97 Conference Finals appearance could be somewhat traced to this trade more for what it allowed them to free up.  That being said, on the surface, it was a solid four player deal.  Presented below is the video and then the moment……

 

 

August 31, 1995


Pittsburgh Penguins traded Luc Robitaille and Ulf Samuelsson to the New York Rangers, in exchange for Sergei Zubov and Petr Nedved.

This moment happened 15 years ago today, maybe this team was mad about a certain team winning the Stanley Cup.  Who knows why these things happen?

Rick Green fights on….

August 31, 1989


Rick Green retired after 13 seasons with Montreal and Washington. He later came back with Detroit and the NY Islanders.
