This Day In Hockey History (8/23)

Today we have a quick one for everybody because let us be honest, it was an easy day in the NHL apparently.  This moment is from 35 years ago today and involves a minor trade.  It is time to see what it is and of course a video comes first.  Enjoy.

 

 

August 23, 1976

Minnesota North Stars traded goaltender Cesare Maniago to Vancouver, in exchange for Gary Smith.

Today we give a simple salute and a Happy Birthday to one of my favorite announcers.  This guy does make Florida Panthers games at least tolerable.

 

 

August 23, 1963

Former NHL defenseman Randy Moller born in Red Deer, Alberta. Moller played in the league 1981-82 thru 1994-95 with Quebec, the Rangers, Buffalo, and the Florida Panthers.

BallHype: hype it up!

For the moment today we went so far back that we really were amazed how old this moment was. However, it is one of those little known facts that I am sure our good buddy Kevin Jesus knows well.

Montreal Canadiens purchased goaltender George Hainsworth from the Saskatoon Crescents of the WHL.
