The moment today is an interesting one of sorts because of well it was rare in the 70’s to see a stay at home defenseman traded for four future draft picks but yet it happened all on this day just 39 years ago. Somehow I think this trade worked out a bit better for Montreal but LA a few trades later did get Marcel Dionne. Here is how it went down with the usual video and moment.
August 22, 1972
Montreal obtained four future draft choices from the Los Angeles Kings, in exchange for veteran defenseman Terry Harper. Those four picks you may ask? Well here you go. Traded to Los Angeles by Montreal for Los Angeles’ 2nd round choice (Gary MacGregor) in 1974 Amateur Draft, Los Angeles’ 1st (Pierre Mondou) and 3rd (Paul Woods) round choices in 1975 Amateur Draft and Los Angeles’ 1st round choice (Rod Schutt) in 1976 Amateur Draft, August 22, 1972.
