This Day In Hockey History (8/20)

This was one we nearly forgot about it but the demand in the inbox was too much to pass this one up.  Ten years ago Philadelphia and New York (Rangers) made a trade to set a disgruntled but oft-injured superstar free for what almost amounted for spare parts.  It eventually almost became a punchline in jokes for years to come sadly.  Here is the moment from ten years ago today. 

 

 

August 20, 2001


New York Rangers acquired Eric Lindros from the Philadelphia Flyers, in exchange for left wing Jan Hlavac, defenseman Kim Johnsson, young forward Pavel Brendl a middle-round draft pick, and other future considerations.

Philadelphia Flyers traded Mikael Renberg and Karl Dykhuis to Tampa Bay, in exchange for four first round draft picks.
