This Day In Hockey History (6/28)

Yes call me a homer but today’s moment comes from 18 years ago.  Certainly it does not feel like it was that long ago and yet it really was.  Again, we give a special thanks for those who particularly wanted this considering how flooded the inbox it was.  Here is the usual video then moment.

 

 

June 28, 1993


New Jersey Devils named Jacques Lemaire as their new head coach, replacing Herb Brooks, who had resigned May 31.  He would go on to win a Stanley Cup with New Jersey just two years later.

It is back to the grind which means another This Day In Hockey History.  Today we look at one of those franchise chaning trades that happened just sixteen years ago.  Amazing stuff.

 

 

June 28, 1994


Toronto Maple Leafs traded Wendel Clark, Sylvain Lefebvre, Landon Wilson, and a 1994 first round draft pick to Quebec, in exchange for Mats Sundin, Garth Butcher, Todd Warriner, and the Nordiques’ 1st round pick in 1994.
