This Day In Hockey History (6/25)

This moment is from 13 years ago and yes it did add an award to the NHL Award list.  However, it was one that was richly overdue.  Here we go.

 

 

June 25, 1998


NHL Board of Governors announced that a new trophy would be awarded every year (starting in 1999) to the NHL’s leading goal scorer — the new award would be called the “Maurice Richard Trophy”.
