Today’s moment on This Day is a bit of a sad one as we pay our respects to one hell of a sportscaster who left us much too soon. Dan Kelly was a Hockey Night In Canada staple. What older hockey fans may remember him for is the famous Bobby Orr “flying goal” which won Boston the Stanley Cup. Here is that moment from 23 years ago today and of course a little video before it ladies and gentlemen.

Dan Kelly passed away at the age of 52 from lung cancer. The beloved Blues announcer was also a fixture on Hockey Night In Canada. The St. Louis press box is dedicated to the man with the booming voice that so many will never forget.
