This Day In Hockey History (12/30)

Leave it to us to find another one of those quirky moments for “This Day”.  Goalies and shutouts are fairly commonplace in the NHL so we decided to dig a little deeper and found a team that really made good use of its goalies, well sort of.  Today’s gem comes to us from 31 years ago and more a sign of injuries than anything else.  However, we have the video first and then the moment as always to get you started on a Friday.

December 30, 1980

Montreal’s rookie goaltender Rick Wamsley recorded his first career NHL shutout in the Canadiens’ 4-0 win over the visiting Los Angeles Kings. Wamsley became the third Canadiens goalie to get a shutout in the 1980-81 season.

Simply I am a hockey writer who is a jack of all trades. Whether it is draft, fantasy, NHL, KHL, AHL, etc...I probably can write about it. The challenge in hockey is to be able to step out of your comfort zone and write like you are still there. Hopefully you enjoy the humor in the writing on the site and tell your friends. 1980 must have been a very weird season for this guy to get a shutout.  Here is some video and today’s moment as well.  By the way, Happy Birthday to my Aunt Lois…she turns 63 today.
