This Day In Hockey History (12/18)

Today’s moment though rather recent was significant for this player with a booming slap shot.  Now we bring you this gem from 2003 with a guy who really was never viewed as one who could score multiple goals in a game but he could surely put the fear in someone’s eyes or anyone’s for that matter.

 

 

December 18, 2003


Sheldon Souray scored his first career hat trick, including the winning goal 35 seconds into overtime and added an assist, and Mike Ribeiro had four assists in the Canadiens 5-4 win against the visiting Nashville Predators.

December 18, 1983


Black Hawks retired Bobby Hull’s uniform #9 in a pre-game ceremony at Chicago Stadium. Black Hawks lost 5-1 to the visiting Boston Bruins.

Ron Tugnutt recorded the first shutout in Blue Jackets’ history as Columbus won 2-0 at Montreal. It was the 16th career shutout for Tugnutt.
