This Day In Hockey History (11/28)

Well if you have not ready the news by now, Carolina coach Paul Maurice and Washington coach Bruce Boudreau have both been relieved of their duties this morning.  Kirk Muller is the new coach in Carolina and Dale Hunter is the new coach in Washington.  It will be interesting to see what happens going forward in those cities and best of luck to the first time head coaches.

Today’s moment does not involve coaches in new places or departing coaches but it involves maybe a future coach perhaps in Brett Hull, who knows.  Either way Hull started a streak this day 20 years ago that still stands the test of time in the St. Louis Blues organization.  Here is a video and then the moment….

St. Louis’ Brett Hull began a team-record 25 game point scoring streak in the Blues’ 5-2 win over the visiting Quebec Nordiques.

This Day In Hockey History (11/28)

This moment happened 11 years ago today.  Sometimes it is forgotten that a player you see has been around the league this long but it is really true.  Now it is time.

Rookie goalie Roberto Luongo stopped 43 shots in his first NHL game as the Islanders won 2-1 at Boston.
