This Day In Hockey History (11/16)

Today’s Hump Day edition of This Day takes a look at one of the best snipers in the game….ever.  This player literally had the gold touch, as he scored 50 goals almost blindfolded.  It is scary to think a guy could score that many goals that fast but yes this New York Islander did so.  The moment comes from 25 years ago today and as always the video comes first.  This guy surely could always score!

 

 

November 16, 1986


New York Islanders’ Mike Bossy scored the 545th goal of his career and surpassed Hall-of-Famer Maurice “Rocket” Richard to move into 6th place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list. Islanders lost 3-1 to the Jets, at Winnipeg.

Trevor Kidd made 30 saves to record his 18th career shutout, and Viktor Kozlov scored twice in the second period as the Panthers won 2-0 against the Sabres at Buffalo.

Goaltender John Davidson recorded his first career NHL shutout, when the New York Rangers beat the visiting Detroit Red Wings 3-0. The opposing goalie was Ed Giacomin, who had been picked up on waivers by the Red Wings two weeks earlier.
