This Day In Hockey History (10/29)

The snow is falling here and really it is not all that much of a big deal but the moment today is more of one as Theo Fleury was always an event whereever he played.  This moment happened ten years ago today and a milestone that Fleury still remembers to this day.  Here is the video and the moment as always on this Saturday.

 

 

October 29, 2001

Theo Fleury had two assists to give him 1,000 career NHL points, as the Rangers scored three times within a five-minute span in the second period for a 4-2 win over the visiting Dallas Stars.

This one is for Mario…a moment that happened seven years ago today.  A pretty powerful and moving moment but not for the opposition so much.

 

 

 

October 29, 2003

Pittsburgh’s Mario Lemieux became the 6th player in NHL history to reach 1,700 career points (and the second-fastest, after Gretzky) with an assist in a 4-4 tie against the visiting New York Islanders.

BallHype: hype it up!

A slow day for us…forgive us here at The Program. However here is a moment today that was truly rare for a guy who was definitely gifted in dishing the puck rather than putting the puck in the net himself. A truly unselfish guy had a day to remember in the Boston Garden just 17 years ago today. Here is the video and moment for today.

October 29, 1992

Adam Oates scored his first career hat trick, and added an assist, and Vladimir Ruzicka had two goals and three assists to lead the Bruins to an 8-3 win against the Kings, at Boston Garden.
