Scouts Honor: Question Time!

Simply here is our Scout’s Honor question of the week.  This comes from our good friend Buck Davidson:

Gotta keep three of these four: Byfuglien, Tavares, Backes, Sharp. Other keepers are Stamkos, Backstrom, Bryzgalov. Yes, it was a good year. Don’t see any way one of those four falls to me at 12 in the draft.

Goals (G), Assists (A), Plus/Minus (+/-), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shorthanded Points (SHP), Game-Winning Goals (GWG), Shots on Goal (SOG), Faceoffs Won (FW) are cats –

Here we go ladies and gentlemen.  When asking questions like this, it is easier just to get straight to the heart of the matter.  Simply which player does not belong in this discussion?  Simply Patrick Sharp, John Tavares, and David Backes are players with great skill set and point potential.  Dustin Byfuglien is not.  Though Tobias Enstrom makes him fantasy viable, if Byfuglien does get switched to the Forward position at some point in the season, his value goes down like the stock market did in October of 1987.

Will Byfuglien top 50 points this year?  There are some serious questions about that.  Meanwhile, Sharp, Tavares, and Backes could all easily top 60 points.  This is really a no-brainer at all.  Add in the fact that Dustin Byfuglien does have some legal issues and a concoction has been set in the minds of fantasy hockey fans.

That pretty much cements it.  Do not take Byfuglien in this case as one can always slide back to take defensemen near his fantasy value.  Thanks for the question Buck and see what we have next week for everyone.

Sincerely,
