Fantasy Hockey POTN (6/15)

THE CUP TO BOSTON!  Your new Stanley Cup Champions are the Boston Bruins.  Tonight’s dilemma was two viable choices had a legitimate claim at the Fantasy POTN.  Both Tim Thomas and Patrice Bergeron could have easily won this.  Thomas had a shutout and Bergeron scored twice, including the game winner and a short handed tally that put the game out of reach.

What to do?  What to do?  Here are the highlights that shed some light perhaps?

Now Patrice Bergeron had two goals and Tim Thomas had 37 saves.  Thomas stopped 16 of those shots in the third period alone.  To be fair, Brad Marchand had two goals and an assist tonight but one goal was an empty netter.

Fans were split online via Twitter but the split turned when the numbers were presented forth.  A Game 7 road shutout was enough for Tim Thomas to be our Fantasy POTN.  He also is our Fantasy Conn Smythe as well as our Fantasy MVP for the season.

Thomas had three shutouts overall in the series and gave up only eight goals in seven games.  Combine that with a 16-9 record with a 1.98 GAA, .940 save pctg, and 4 shutouts and its no wonder why Tim Thomas is taking home our fantasy hardware.

We tip our cider glass to Mr. Thomas and congratulate him and the Boston Bruins on winning the Stanley Cup.  The offseason is now here which means more fantasy offseason coverage only here on The Program.
