I get it Brian Burke, you want to trade Tomas Kaberle but you stat there in the toilet waiting too long yet again. What excuse will it be this time IF a deal does not get done? The dog ate my homework? The fax did not make it? I could not get a hold of Kaberle in time? Surely we will anger some Toronto fans and Burke sympathizers with this post. Frankly, we do not care.
Whatever love affair the media has with Brian Burke has to realize that he is not fooling anyone. Tomas Kaberle thinks he can get a big payday next year and really does not want to move from Toronto. So why is it that we here 8,000,000 bogus rumors at least three times a year with the talented defenseman. Then all we hear is a million excuses of the reasons he was not moved. ENOUGH ALREADY! This is the same GM that nearly ruined Bobby Ryan’s career. Some will just say he was seasoning him….no he was salting his back end away in the AHL.
The question in the great scheme of things is this. Toronto needs defensive defensemen supposedly. The problem is they have so many slow, one dimensional guys, that you could literally skate circles around them if you have any kind of speed. Kaberle at least adds a speedy dimension to the apple cart. Jeff Finger, Mike Komisarek, and the Booch err Beauchemin are not light of foot. Hell none of the three will ever score 49 points in a season. If they do, I will publicly kiss the feet of any Toronto fan. I mean ANY Toronto fan.
Oh wait there was that nagging question. How does Brian Burke still have a love affair with Toronto despite still having more problems with his team than almost every team in Canada except for Edmonton? Does anyone want to toss in the Chris Pronger reference now for six degrees of Brian Burke? I am just saying.
Now going from Brian Burke (self professed bomb dropper) to another bomb dropping of sorts. This Sunday we go unadulerated on defense on the show. If you are in deep leagues or shallow leagues with defensemen, you will still want to listen. Because as I have said many times, if Brian Burke tried to run a fantasy hockey team, he could not beat us. I guarantee it!
So what is left? Simple. Brian Burke does not believe in development. He leaves that to other people. Therefore he would not be that great of a fantasy hockey GM. If you disagree, tell us why he would make a good one and we will be glad to have a well placed rebuttal ready. Come bring it!
