This Day In Hockey History (9/18)

We do have a heart here on The Program.  Today this moment was sent in by a few Tampa Bay Lightning fans.  This was forgotten a bit but when we did some digging, sure enough this indeed was an event from 13 years ago today.  As always, we have a little video for the occasion and then the moment.  Here it goes….

 

 

September 18, 1998


18 months after being found to have cancer, John Cullen began his NHL comeback by scoring the game winning goal in the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres, in a pre-season game played in Innsbruck, Austria.

The Los Angeles Kings had to start somewhere and that was start was this day 43 years ago against the Minnesota North Stars.  Here is today’s moment.

Los Angeles Kings played their first game in team history — and lost the exhibition match, 7-3 to the North Stars, in Hamilton, Ontario.

Its Friday and almost time for the weekend. When I looked outside I thought I stepped into London but no its just Fall and hockey like weather. This moment is kind of ironic given a certain court case.
