As we cleaned up the mud, muck and debris from Hurricane Irene, we take a look at what happened today years ago. Today’s moment does come from 17 years ago and illustrates why some athletes just should never take health for granted. Pittsburgh’s Mario Lemieux announced that he would sit out the 1994-95 NHL season, due to fatigue from his previous illnesses. He returned in 1995-96 and won the NHL’s Ross Trophy as the league’s leading scorer.
