This Day In Hockey History (3/9)

We bring you a quick TGIF moment here on “This Day In Hockey History”.  Dino Ciccarelli was one of those hockey players you either loved or hated but the man had tenacity and talent which is a rare combination in the NHL these days.  He played over and around the line for years and always gave that 110% effort.  Today’s moment is one of his milestones that happened an astonishing 18 years ago.  Yes it has been that long.  Here is the video and moment as always….

March 09, 1994

Dino Ciccarelli scored a goal to become the 40th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career points, as the Red Wings won 5-1 over the Flames at Calgary.

This Day In Hockey History (3/9)

The moment today was a bit of a dark one but maybe some forgot this along the way.  It happened 21 years ago and some were very bitterly opposed to this happening.  Sadly Bob Probert is gone now but here is that moment.

March 09, 1990

NHL President John A. Ziegler Jr. terminated the suspension of Detroit Red Wings player Bob Probert after Probert served one year without pay of his combined expulsion and suspension.

BallHype: hype it up!

Tuesday on This Day and today we have a moment so rare. No this moment is so rare that it only happened once in this player’s career. What is scary and evil is the very fact that it occurred. Here is the moment and then the video will come eventually.

What Odelein is more known for….

March 09, 1994

Lyle Odelein had 3 power-play goals for his first career hat trick in the Canadiens’ 7-2 win over the visiting Blues. Odelein became the first Canadiens’ defenseman since Larry Robinson in 1985 to score a hat trick in a regular season game.
