This Day In Hockey History (12/29)

Sometimes we come up with very quirky and odd moments on This Day.  This one qualifies as probably one of the oddest ones only because this is something so few remember.  Officials did not always wear what you see today so just to pull out an old video, here is today’s moment with a video of course.

 

 

December 29, 1955

In a game between Montreal and Toronto, NHL officials wore new vertically striped black and white sweaters for the first time. Canadiens won the game 5-2.

The enjoyable thing about going into the memories is the ones that you did not ever expect to find again.  This moment happened 46 years ago today.

 

 

December 29, 1964

Bobby Hull scored twice to lead the Black Hawks to a 4-2 win over the Rangers, at New York. The win stretched the Black Hawks’ undefeated streak to 11 games (10-0-1), and gave them a team-record 7 straight wins on the road.

December 29, 1984

Edmonton’s Wayne Gretzky scored his 32nd career hat trick and added three assists to give him 100 points in 35 games, the second-fastest 100 points in NHL history. The Oilers beat Detroit 6-3.
