This Day In Hockey History (12/15)

It is always fun to look back a bit at history but as we take a long look at things today, we realize just how significant some accomplishments can be.  This goes even for team history especially as some milestones are more commonplace on a team by team basis.  The moment we bring to you today happened 18 years ago and this player probably was as shocked as anyone else.  As always, a video will come first followed by the historical gem.

 

 

December 15, 1993


Defenseman Glen Wesley scored his first career hat trick to lead the Bruins to a 5-4 win over the Devils at New Jersey. Wesley became just the third defenseman in Bruins’ history (after Bobby Orr and Ray Bourque) to score three goals in one game.

This Day In Hockey History (12/15)

Today on This Day we look at a game that happened 18 years ago deep in the heart of Texas.  Does anyone remember the old neutral site game?  Okay, it is moment time

Texas hosted its first NHL regular season game, when the NY Islanders beat the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in overtime, at the Reunion Arena in Dallas, in an NHL neutral site game.

December 15, 1996


Dallas goalie Andy Moog recorded his 25th career shutout in the Stars’ 4-0 win at Ottawa. Early in the second period Modano & Matvichuk scored shorthanded goals :26 apart during a penalty to rookie Jamie Langenbrunner.
