This Day In Hockey History (12/14)

It is the middle of the week on “This Day”.  What do we have in store for today?  I do not know.  However, this was a bit of a special one as the firsts of a hockey player’s career are always remembered.  Here at The Program, we try our best to pay proper respect to them as well.  Without further adieu, today’s moment is from 43 years ago and was the first of many great moments from #4, who simply was the best player ever to don the skates for the Boston Bruins and maybe the NHL.  Here is a video and the moment….

 

 

December 14, 1968

Boston’s Bobby Orr recorded his first career NHL hat trick and added two assists in a 10-5 win over Chicago, at Boston Garden.

This Day In Hockey History (12/14)

This is kind of a sad moment today as this player was a really good one who probably should have had the chance to do more.  That being said, this one happened 42 years ago today.

 

 

December 14, 1968

Toronto’s Johnny Bower became the 9th goaltender in NHL history to win 250 career games, when the Maple Leafs won 3-2 over the visiting St. Louis Blues. It was Bower’s final NHL victory.

BallHype: hype it up!

Wow we almost forgot all about This Day. Oops the embarrassment of it all. Today we have a moment from the somewhat old days and here it goes…..

December 14, 1980

Boston journeyman winger Doug Morrison scored his only career hat trick, with three straight goals in the third period as the Bruins won 7-1 over the visiting Los Angeles Kings.
