“This Day” takes a look at a moment in Devils history most probably think never even happened. When one thinks of comebacks, no one expects a big comeback from the Devils in a third period (especially in the 1980’s). Yet the unthinkable did occur. Indeed it did on this day 26 years ago and it is something that if you talk to an oldtime New York Rangers fan, they will deny it until hell freezes over. New Jersey Devils had the biggest comeback in team history — down 4-0 in the third period, they scored 5 times to tie the game, then beat the Rangers 6-5 on an OT goal by Mel Bridgman. Pete McNab led the scoring with two goals and two assists.
