This Day In Hockey History (10/4)

Today we have a special “Grahame Crackers Treat”.  For one it is rare to see father and son combos in the NHL let alone goaltenders.  However, we did find one and the result of the son was a pretty nice capper for that day.  Though this is not quite the perfect setup for the Weekly Slapshot tonight at 9:30pm ET on Blog Talk Radio, it will nonetheless do.  Here is today’s moment from 12 years ago with video of course.

 

 

October 04, 1999


Rookie John Grahame became the first goaltender in Boston Bruins history whose father (Ron) was also a goalie on the team, when he made his NHL debut in a 4-0 loss at Toronto.

This Day In Hockey History (10/4)

This one from 15 years ago and wow, I forgot Tampa used alternate captains the first three years.  So here is a first from them.  Enjoy everyone.

Paul Ysebaert was named the first Captain in Tampa Bay Lightning history, just prior to the start of the 1995-96 season. The Lightning had used alternate captains during the team’s first three seasons in the NHL.

Bryan Berard courageous!

New York Rangers signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Bryan Berard, attempting a comeback from an eye injury suffered in March 2000.
