This Day In Hockey History (10/22)

We do understand our reputation with fans of the Philadelphia Flyers but maybe today’s moment can be somewhat of an olive branch.  At any rate, when a player scores their first point, it is a significant time for them.  Today we have a moment from 42 years ago that was the beginning of many more points and later this guy was the C for some Cup runs.  First there is the video and then the moment like we usually do it.

 

 

October 22, 1969


Andre Lacroix scored his first career hat trick, and rookie Bobby Clarke picked up his first career NHL point (with an assist) to lead the Flyers to a 4-3 win against the Maple Leafs, at Toronto.

October 22, 1986


Mario Lemieux scored twice to give him 100 career NHL goals as the Penguins improved their record to 7-0-0 from the start of the season, with a 5-4 overtime win over the Sabres, in Pittsburgh.

Some old Grant Fuhr but not that old….

October 22, 1999


Grant Fuhr became the 6th NHL goaltender to win 400 career NHL games and Derek Morris scored 20 seconds into overtime as Calgary won 3-2 at Florida.
