This Day In Hockey History (10/14)

Have you ever had the feeling of seeing crazy eights?  Well then today’s moment is really for you.  This one occurred 23 years ago and on opening night for the Detroit Red Wings.  Rmember when there were ties?  Ah those were the good old days.  At any rate, we have a moment and video of sorts.  Talk about a true classic….

 

 

October 14, 1988

Detroit Red Wings tied St. Louis 8-8 in their season opener — the first time in Detroit history –spanning 63 years and 4,052 games — that a game of theirs ended with the score tied 8-8. Dave Barr led the scoring with a goal and three assists.

The moment today presented to you is just plain bizarre.  The names have not been changed to protect any innocent people because they are all guilty here.  Now the moment from 12 years ago…..

 

 

October 14, 1998

New York Islanders became just the third team in NHL history to shut out the same opponent four straight times (and the first to do so since 1927) when goalie Tommy Salo recorded his 10th career shutout in a 2-0 win at Tampa Bay.

BallHype: hype it up!

Good morning and yes it is HUMP DAY! My favorite day of the week because the rest of the week truly goes downhill towards the weekend. Today we have an old moment from an expansion team in the late 60’s not named the Flyers. Here it goes.



Terry Crisp now……

October 14, 1967

St. Louis rookie Terry Crisp scored the first goal of his NHL career, and goalie Seth Martin recorded the first victory in team history when the St. Louis Blues beat the Penguins 4-2, at Pittsburgh.
