This Day In Hockey History (10/1)

Well welcome to October ladies and gentlemen.  We are just five days from the start of the 2011-12 NHL season.  The moment for the day is a really hopeful one for players who hold now until almost the last possible minute.  This player below did so and then was the Los Angeles Kings for five years.  These instances are strange yet true.  The following moment occurred ten years ago today and maybe Drew Doughty could be a “C” in the future perhaps.  Here is the video then the moment like we always do.

 

 

October 01, 2001

Los Angeles Kings named Mattias Norstrom as their new Team Captain, the 13th in franchise history.

Here is a long serving captain many may have forgotten about.  He was named Captain eleven years ago today.  This player even has been to a Stanley Cup Finals although he did not act very captain like then.  Nonetheless, it is moment time.

Pat LaFontaine and a bonus…..

October 01, 1981

N.Y. Islanders traded Bob Lorimer and Dave Cameron to the Colorado Rockies, in exchange for a 1983 first round draft choice. The Islanders later used the pick to select Pat LaFontaine.
