The Morning After:

Yesterday’s scores:

Ducks 3, Coyotes 2

Canucks 5, Hurricanes 1

Predictions record: 1-1

My 3 stars of the night:

1. Mason Raymond, VAN (2 Goals, 1 Assist)… Raymond performed well by notching 3 points after being placed on the top line with the Sedins.

2. Corey Perry, ANA (1 Goal, 1 Assist)

3. Mikael Samuelsson, VAN (1 Goal, 2 Assists)

Tonight’s Slate:

Islanders @ Maple Leafs, 7:00 ET

Avalanche @ Rangers, 7:00

Senators @ Penguins, 7:30

Stars @ Lightning, 7:30

Blues @ Blackhawks, 8:30

Game of the Night:

St. Louis Blues (2-1-1) @ Chicago Blackhawks (3-2-1)

8:00 ET… TV: Local Networks

2009/10 Season Series: 4-2 Blackhawks

Players to watch:

STL- Erik Johnson

The Blues’ stud blueliner needs to have a solid two-way game tonight.

CHI- Patrick Sharp

Chicago’s do-it-all forward is on fire with four goals in the last two games.

Projected Goaltenders:

STL- Jaroslav Halak (2010/11 stats: 2-1-0, 2.00 GAA)

CHI- Marty Turco (2010/11 stats: 2-1-1, 2.97 GAA)

Injury Report:

STL- Cam Janssen (concussion, out), Vladimir Sobotka (shoulder, out)

CHI- Brian Campbell (knee, out)

Game Thoughts:

Division rivals Chicago and St. Louis meet in the Windy City tonight for a key early-season tilt. The ‘Hawks picked up two confidence-boosting wins this weekend, while the Blues have dropped a couple close games. Unless Halak is a brick wall in net tonight, I see Chicago continuing their momentum and winning a tight one.

Prediction: Blackhawks 3, Blues 2

The rest of tonight’s predictions:

Maple Leafs over Islanders

Avalanche over Rangers

Penguins over Senators

Lightning over Stars
