FH 201: These Three Turkeys

(Yes it is Turkey Rambo our new mascot!)

Get use to some more attitude with the THREE TURKEYS.  This will be a very short edition tonight with just the turkeys and no stuffing.  There will be no filler either.  Submitted below this week is simply our list with a smaller skinny.

Why are we going a little less on the filler this week?  It is because next week there will be no turkeys at all sadly.  We do apologize for the inconvenience but the blog will be going on a bit of a mini holiday late next week in honor of Christmas.

Presented below are the three turkeys.  Hopefully they do not grace your fantasy team but if they do, god help your soul.

THESE THREE TURKEYS

Rick DiPietro (NYI) —  This is the fourth time on the list for the Isles goalie and the second week in a row.  People still hold out hope that he will turn it around and point out the fact that he has now started 14 games this year which is one more than the previous two years combined.  The bottom line is his stats are horrific and it looks like he is sleeping out there at times.  Some will suggest that the Isles have to trot hi out there because he is owed a lot of money.  If Brian Rolston can be shown the door (eventually) then Rick DiPietro can too.

Brian Rolston (NJ Devils) — 4 points in 16 games is bad enough.  Knowing you are the scapegoat to one of the worst starts in team history…disaster!  Now that Rolston has asked his way out of New Jersey, you should ask him off your roster and toss him into the waiver pool.  No matter where he ends up, he is not the player he once was.  Though he may produce every so often and from afar. There are much better options in the mix.

Niklas Backstrom (MIN) — The goalie has had two good performances in his last 6 and has given up 4 or more goals in 4 of his last 6 appearances.  Have the wheels finally fallen off?  Maybe.  Maybe not. One thing is certain for fantasy fans.  Watch Backstrom over the next month or so.  He is overworked and with these back to back scenarios, he could start to tire again.  Keep a backup option for this goalie who is a second starter in most fantasy hockey leagues.  Even in the games he has been good in, he has looked a bit ragged at times which is understandable but not to the guy who depends on riding this horse.

Like we said, there will be no Turkeys next week but maybe something in its place.  Until then, have a Merry Christmas from those gobblers.
