BallHype: hype it up!

When you are a bit of a fan of statistical numbers and history….it is always fun to find a new site to peak your curiosity. Today we spotlight the Hockey Summary Project….a site dedicated to the historical summaries of NHL scores and a bit more.

There is a lot of numbers to crunch on this one. Now the site may seem a bit rudimentary to most but the reality is to have all these summaries in one place was and still is a lot of painstaking work. The people at HSP worked extremely hard to put this all up and they even let you use the numbers provided you do the following for them.

The Hockey Summary Project allows for free usage of its data including the production of a commercial product based upon the data, subject to the terms outlined below.

1) In exchange for any usage of data, in whole or in part, you agree to display the following statement prominently and in its entirety on your end-product:

So far I have been digging into a ton of summaries and this information is pretty much 100% accurate. If people often wonder where I pull info from on the podcast…this is where I am at. This really serves as a thank you to this site and a plea to check them out. They also have a message board on Yahoo Groups as well for questions, comments, and more.

Whether you want a game summary from April 1st, 2006 or the entire Montreal Maroons existence….you can find it on Hockey Summary Project. It is a site that you will be hearing about more on the show and hopefully other sites will use as well. What a great resource no matter how much of a hockey fan you are. Love the stats…love them!!! See you next week.

Sincerely,

Chris Wassel
