One of those moments today that really kind of made you sad if you were a Buffalo Sabres fan.  This American to me at least would have been better than Mike Modano if not for injuries and particularly concussions.  However on this day 14 years ago, he would be traded from smalltown Buffalo to the bright lights and big city (New York City).  Here is that moment with a nice little video first ladies and gentlemen.

September 29, 1997

New York Rangers acquired Pat LaFontaine from the Buffalo Sabres, in exchange for a 1998 2nd Round Draft Pick, and future considerations.

This moment today happened eight years ago and has a bit of a here they are now twist.  This player played with the team, coached with them, went down to Lowell, came back, and now is the head coach.  Here it goes.

At the time this moment seemed like pure lunacy but it turned out to be pretty good for St. Louis. Still a rarity but less of one now about young players and the C…..enjoy.
