This Day In Hockey History (8/4)

Yes there were bigger moments than the one we present today but it is nice to see the word college in there.  Today’s gem is from 16 years ago and who knew the goalie involved would be quite the player he was.  Here is the video first and then the moment. St. Louis sure had a lot of high profile misses in the 90’s. I guess every team does. Roll film!

 

 

August 04, 1995


Edmonton Oilers obtained Curtis Joseph and college forward Mike Grier from St. Louis, in exchange for first round draft picks in 1996 (Marty Reasoner) and 1997.

Second tours of duty are not uncommon in the NHL and is always nice when a Stanley Cup goalie gets to go home to the scene of his greatest glory.  That moment happened eleven years ago today and here it is…..

August 4th…


1982 – St. Louis Blues traded Rick LaPointe to the Quebec Nordiques, in exchange for Pat Hickey.

1995 – Edmonton Oilers obtained Curtis Joseph and college forward Mike Grier from St. Louis, in exchange for first round draft picks in 1996 (Marty Reasoner) and 1997.

1999 – Edmonton signed free agent (and former Oiler) Bill Ranford.

2000 – New York Rangers acquired Sandy McCarthy from the Carolina Hurricanes, in exchange for Rob DiMaio and Darren Langdon.
