This Day In Hockey History (7/2)

Now here is what is going to happen today.  We did get a lot of free agent signings from yesteryear in the inbox but we found a feelgood one that will hopefully suffice.  Today’s dig into history comes from ten years ago where all this guy wanted was a Stanley Cup.  Here is that moment but first a video.  We apologize for the NSFW below.

 

 

July 02, 2001

Detroit Red Wings signed free agent left wing Luc Robitaille.  Sure enough he would go on to win the Stanley Cup the very next season.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed free agent goaltender Eddie Belfour, who had been with the Dallas Stars.
