This Day In Hockey History (10/10)

Today we have a moment that is 25 years old with Craig MacTavish and no he is not going to coaching school for this one.  It was back in his playing days.  Here it goes.

 

 

October 10, 1985


Edmonton’s Craig MacTavish scored his first goal as an Oiler on his first shot with the team, in his first game, as the Oilers won 4-3 over the Winnipeg Jets.

Today….on the 10th day of the 10th month and technically the 10th year of the decade….we have another moment that time never forgets. Do you want to know what it is? We give it to you now with video…no memorex…and no filler.



Yes Mr. Bowman…now moment time.

October 10, 1998


Detroit’s Scotty Bowman set an NHL record for coaches when he began his 27th year behind the bench (in a 2-1 Red Wings loss at Toronto). Bowman broke the longevity mark of 26 coaching years held by Dick Irvin.
