That damn feeling of deja vu all over again!
BallHype: hype it up!

Thankfully it was not quite as bad here as it was down the Jersey Shore or on Long Island but let’s face it…it was not a fun snowstorm at all. Over 2 feet in those areas and about 12 or 13 inches of snow here at the home office in Jersey. If you did not have to be out in it, that is probably a good thing. One of the funniest moments of the weekend had to be the Canadiens-Islanders game on Long Island. Here take a listen…….

Highlights courtesy of NHL Video….

I swear there were maybe 3000 people there at Nassau Colosseum and 2990 were Montreal fans. After the 3rd Canadiens goal, I heard their goal song as if it was at the Bell Centre. Now I understand it was an ugly night on the Island but how did all these Hab fans get in? I know they are more used to this kind of weather but it was just plain strange and bizarre. A hearty welcome back to Andrei Markov who scored 2 goals (both on the PP) in the 3-0 win.

Speaking of snowy impact…last night on The Program, we talked some Olympic hockey rankings and fantasy hockey with TSN’s own Scott Cullen. We fought like kids, teased each other, and had some good old fashioned fun. The only thing missing was the eggnog. One of the big things was just having some good times talking about the world of fantasy hockey and what could happen come after Christmas. Take a listen as we dug deep on this two hour show.

Again we talked about the hypocrisy that is the NHL’s stance and discipline or lack thereof on head shots. We have hammered it home ever since we have been on the air that the lack of respect and the instigator rule are key reasons why head shots still are extremely prevalent. Yet the league is still waiting until March. Do you think there will be more Reggie Fleming’s out there? Eventually there will be. The NHL lacks such basic common sense that it can be frustrating especially for fans who see it so simple when I guess really it is not all that simple if you think about it.

Coming this week we will be sending out emails for the top 16 moments of the decade which we will unveil next Monday. Some moments might even include a 5 OT playoff game for the Battle of Pennsylvania or even the day hockey died for the season (the lockout). What are your favorite moments? Send us an email or comment away on the page. We want to hear from you.

Again sorry for the shortened edition but there is a lot to do on a busy Monday with a whopping 11 games on the TV in total. See you next Monday with another edition of the Cooler and if you are still waist deep in snow…stay safe out there. Its only a few days until Christmas.

Sincerely,

Chris Wassel
