Monday Ice Water Cooler

BallHype: hype it up!

It must be Monday and time for the Monday Ice Water Cooler where we have a little fun with the sport of hockey and a little truth serum added in as well. Hopefully people had a good weekend as it is only 11 days until Christmas. For those retail people out there…you get an extra ounce of respect from me and then some. I have been there and no its not pretty this time of year.

First off the injury ticker is at 104 right now….and yes we added the Tootoo injury in Preds fans so do not worry. The ticker may actually calm down some more before the holidays and no we do not expect any injuries from overeating during Christmas. We are not that low people….honest we are not. However there are some things that we just go NUTS about.

On last night’s podcast, I stumbled on something that literally drew the ire of me and Rick. Scott Cullen’s Olympic rankings are out on CTV. The defensive rankings were not so bad though some were a bit outrageous but the bombs really did start flying when I saw the goalie rankings (as seen in link above). I am sorry but I do understand its how hot you are right now and your olympic record but last I checked there is a few bones to pick here.

Also we dove head first into what is coming up for the week and our upcoming Rangers Intervention that you do not want to miss Wednesday Night at 8pm ET. Jonathan Ragus will be on with us and who knows who else will step into the mess that is the New York Rangers. Basically we take on the fans who want apocalyptic changes and take all questions from anyone. Just imagine a Philly intervention…that would be scary.

Lastly on this shortened edition, I would like to point out the virtues of a trap game. Cue the Devils-Panthers game Friday Night. The Devils walked right into a sleeping, ticked off giant known as Scott Clemmensen. Yes the Devils did score twice but let this be a lesson to any team that is in the Top 8 in the East. If you are at home, play like you are at home and not like you are asleep at the wheel. Give the Florida Panthers a ton of credit. They took ample advantage of the listless Jersey team and pounced quickly…paving a way to a 4-2 win.

Next week we will have fun with the roster freeze on this edition and more. Who knows maybe we will wish the Injury Ninja a Merry Christmas as well. Aloha!

Sincerely,

Chris Wassel
