KHL Salutes September’s Top Players
Each month during the 2009-2010 season, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) will recognize the top goalie, defender, forward and rookie. The monthly selections are chosen by the KHL Statistics and Information Bureau and based upon both statistical results and overall performance.
September 2009 honorees are:
- Best goalkeeper: Ilya Proskuryakov (Metallurg Magnitogorsk). In the month of September, Proskuryakov posted a 6-1 record, including three shutouts, to go along with a 0.71 GAA and a 97.3 % save percentage.
- Best defender: Konstantin Korneev (CSKA Moscow). Korneev scored five points (two goals, three assists), had a +/- rating of +6 and played an average of 22 minutes and 58 seconds in seven games during the month.
- Best forward: Kirill Knyavez (Spartak Moscow). In eight games, Knyavez registered eight points (six goals, two assists) and had a +/- rating of +5.
- Best rookie: Sergei Belokon (Vityaz Chekov. Belokon had four points (two goals, two assists) and averaged 15 minutes and 49 seconds of playing time in eight games.
