On a nice Sunny Friday afternoon I sit here in my angry chair wondering why refs just could not give that 5th fight in the Philly-Toronto game fighting majors like it should have been. Mike had 4 fights and I had 5. Mike wins the golden cigar award if we had one. But seriously I think I was robbed. However I digress and attribute it to preseason rustiness. When in doubt, use that as an excuse.
The bigger question is what was Aaron Asham thinking? A charging major with 40 seconds left in a 4-0 preseason loss. Not exactly the smartest thing to do. It is not like you are going to send a message to a team full of physical players like Toronto. This would be like trying to ram a PT Cruiser into the Great Wall Of China. Not even Daniel Carcillo is that dumb.
There are 10 preseason games on the docket tonight. I did want to see the Rangers and Red Wings game just for a little “Original 6” tradition. See preseason just does not have the normal intrigue or appeal. You have to look for matchups that can find a way to peak your interest even without seeing all the regulars (especially early on).
When will Blair Betts sign or Brandon Dubinsky for that matter? Your guess is as good as mine at this point. I am thinking the Russian Space Station Mir might be more accurate than anyone else on these two at this point and time….err space and time.
